I know, I know, you didn't even notice I was gone.
The kids and I just got home from a fun filled week in Nashville. We got to visit the local children's science center, play putt putt golf, go swimming every day, learn the history of nearby Franklin, visit the zoo and I'm sure there was more - it's just too early to remember everything. :)
The boys and I also came down with colds while we were there so we tried to fit in some afternoon naps when we could (Okay, their nap time consisted of vegging in front of the tv while I napped.)
I dearly love the friends we met up with there and I'm glad she's a great planner even though we did most things at the drop of the hat this time. We do keep awful busy when we're with them, which is a great thing. It's nice to be back home and ready for work so I can relax a little bit.

My kitchen is full of rainbows these days!
A year or more ago we were at a house that had crystals hanging at the windows and there were crystals all over the rooms. It was fun trying to find all the rainbows and we finally have our own to find!
This past weekend, we went to my MILs to celebrate the 4th of July. We had my mother with us and I knew she liked crystals and pretty things too so we headed over to Aunt Deanna's rock shop - By the See. Aunt Deanna is my SILs aunt and a very interesting lady. The kids got to do some gem mining while we were there too. She has so many pretty things around her shop it was hard to stop with just buying the crystals but I did. My mom spent a bunch of money on Christmas presents. I was hoping she could find some crystals UPS or Fed-Ex had lost when she was out in Colorado a year ago but I don't think she found what she was looking for.
Anyhow, we had a fun 4th of July weekend and now I have rainbows in my kitchen! The kids and I have a lot of fun trying to find the rainbows and enjoy lots of laughs when they show up in new and unusual places.
Here's to rainbow filled days for years!

I know not everybody believes in 'old souls.' But, there is such a difference between my two kids and old soul vs new soul seems like a way to describe it.
My 9yo has a newer soul than my 6yo who's soul seems very old and wise. While my 9yo is very loving, he has more of my way of not always being tactful and he's not real compasionate. These are traits we work on when we can. But, my 6yo, always seems to have a way with words and has always had a lot of compassion.
To give you an example, a couple years ago we were at a memorial service and I was crying on and off. My 9yo (then 6) looked at me like there was something definetly wrong with me while my 6yo (then 3) kept patting me, saying it would be okay.
My 6yo is still cuddly and I will be so sad when that stops. This morning he had me in tears because he was saying things like 'I love you too much. I wonder why I love you too much' and 'You are in my heart and your heart is this big.' He is just always making my heart melt. I hope it is something like an 'old soul' to explain it and that it's something he never loses.
I hope all of you have a wise old soul in your life too!

The kids got me the Wii Fit for Mother's Day and due to travel, I wasn't able to enjoy it until a week ago. I haven't been totally faithful and working out every day, but I'm trying.
For me, the Wii Fit is perfect. My schedule doesn't allow me to get to a gym every day and I've tried to due various tapes over the years - aerobics, taebo, walking, etc. But, this has such a great variety, I don't see my self getting bored very soon. I might have to work up a schedule - so many days of aerobics, strength training, etc. But, even within those fields, they have a great selection of exercises. The hardest part is kicking the kids off so I can have my turn. ;-)
I might not be a bathing beauty soon but I'm having fun trying to get there! And, now when the kids ask me what I like about the Wii, I have two answers! (I like the Big Brain Academy too.

LOL I remember for years, I was so confused about birthdays. My older sister had her birthday AFTER my birthday - how could she be older??? I was glad when my younger child was born six weeks later in the year than my first born. I just knew we wouldn't have that issue. But, it's the birthday season and it has reared it's ugly head.
The older cousin's birthday is today and my youngest doesn't understand how he can be older than his brother. It's pretty funny to listen to the discussion and hear the voices of me and my sister from so many years ago.
I think one of my favorite things about having kids is all the wonderful memories they bring back.
I had a very Happy Mother's Day - I think I have a Happy Mother's Day most days. I hope you did too!
