Quiz

You are a New Age Girl!

You're bright, opinionated, and dedicated to changing the world.

Even if it's one hybrid car at a time, you do you part to make things better.

In fact, you may be so busy with your causes that you have little time for love.

Take an extra yoga class or two, and you just might meet New Age Guy!

What Kind of Girl Are You?    (flower_fairy_girl's note: I"ve already found my New Age Girl, thanks! *lol*)

Creating Sanctuary

Monday, May 21st, 2007, 8:01 pm

Today's main assignment for the iFeel Good Community Challenge is to find/create a sanctuary of some sort. I thought I'd share my idea for creating a sanctuary at home. (Starting today) I am working on turning my guest room into a sanctuary. Really, it's just a room with a bed (and, um, more than a few storage items ;) ). I don't see why a guest wouldn't appreciate an especially serene place to sleep, so why not? :D  I plan to decorate in soothing tones, using only items I already have (extra incentive to de-clutter/organize my closets *lol*) as well as a few things bought at second hand stores to keep the overall price low. I plan to work on it for 10 minutes a day, so that I don't get too overwhelmed. Today I'll just clear off the bed and put on fresh sheets, creating a preliminary mini-sanctuary. I think this will be fun! :)

Finding Joy

Monday, May 21st, 2007, 7:34 pm

"Joy isn't something that you have to schedule. Joy can be an operating system — it can be how you show up." - Michelle DeAngelis

Sometimes it seems so strange to me that we (as a society) don't teach one another to "show up" ready for joy. We spend so much time preparing for the worst. I suppose protection seems somehow more necessary, and joy merely optional. With more and more studies showing the link between stress and illness, it seems to me that joy might be part of any good protection-based lifestyle after all. ;)

The article in which I found the above quote can be found here on iVillage: http://health.ivillage.com/mindbody/mbhappy/0,,bjgwc4vr,00.html
